Mass Deportation Defense Inc. was founded by Todd C. Pomerleau, President, and Danielle M. Wood, Vice President and Executive Director, in response to the rise of mass deportation efforts and unconstitutional practices targeting immigrant communities.

At our core, we are driven by three primary goals:
through impactful litigation, challenging unconstitutional immigration enforcement, education, and collaboration with organizations nationwide to create meaningful change

Across the country, enforcement actions have disrupted working families—often leaving U.S. citizen children without their parents or guardians. Many individuals who were actively engaged in lawful immigration processes now find themselves detained, with their livelihoods and communities at risk.

Mass Deportation Defense Inc. exists to respond to this urgent need.

  • We established our legal clinic to provide direct legal services to individuals who qualify, while also supporting broader impact litigation aimed at stopping unlawful practices at a systemic level.

    Our work extends beyond the courtroom. We actively support communities through education initiatives.

  • We are building a movement designed to have national impact. Through partnerships with fellow nonprofits, advocacy groups, and law school clinics, we aim to expand access to justice and drive long-term change in the immigration system.

Sara Bloom

Director of Litigation

  • Attorney Bloom, is our director of litigation. She brings a unique set of legal talent as a former leading and managing attorney at Department of Justice. She is a fierce advocate of due process and immigrants rights and her skillset and dedication will ensure immigrants receive fair treatment under the law while they pursue the American dream through the immigration process.

    Experience and Qualifications

    Attorney Bloom has had a distinguished legal career, including leading and managing the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Rhode Island, serving as the acting United States attorney in 2025. Before that, she served as the first assistant United States attorney in Rhode Island beginning in 2022.

    During her more than 30 years with the Department of Justice, Attorney Bloom's work included bringing civil and criminal cases to stop illegal behavior, change industry exploits and protect government programs and benefits. She became a national leader in building case teams to pursue nationwide impact litigation under the False Claims Act, led cases that recovered approximately $11 billion for United States taxpayers and oversaw civil and criminal immigration cases.

    Her numerous awards include the Department of Justice's highest honor, the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service in 2010, and the Honest Abe Integrity in Government Award from Taxpayers Against Fraud in 2013.

    Before joining the Department of Justice, Sara was a litigation associate at a major Boston law firm, where she also represented individuals seeking asylum and worked extensively on the civil rights case that established a constitutional right to an education in Massachusetts.

Branden Ladebush

Attorney

  • Branden S. Ladebush, Esq. is an attorney with years of relevant experience in the practice of immigration law. Branden graduated from Clark University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a specialization in International Relations and Spanish Language. He additionally has studied International Law and Organizations at the Washington Semester Program at American University in Washington, DC, and Spanish Language at TANDEM in Madrid, Spain. Branden earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from New England Law | Boston, where he graduated cum laude with certificates in Criminal Law and Immigration Law. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

    Branden has extensive experience representing the immigrant community. He began working for the Immigration Legal Assistance Program at Ascentria Care Alliance as an intern in 2015. He has interned at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and worked in immigration private practice for five years as a Law Clerk and Associate Attorney at Gomez & Martinez LLC (Formerly Gomez & Palumbo LLC) in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Before founding his firm, Branden was employed as an Attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) in Boston. 

    Branden has extensive experience representing individuals before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and the Asylum Office. He is involved in the New England Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) serving as the Chair of the New Member’s Division and Technology Committee.

    Branden believes the United States should be welcome to all. As a descendent of immigrants, Branden has always believed the United States is a place that should open and welcome all.

    Branden has been a trustee of Dover Children’s Home and the City of Dover Trust Fund since 2023.
